If it don't make dollars, it don't make sense

I am just posting to post at this point. There is little to add on the school front as I have yet to receive any relevant information about my financial aid package. Thus far they have sent a magazine touting all the wondrous activities and events that abound in Rochester (conveniently neglecting to display any winter pictures), an apartment guide, and a general letter detailing the costs of schooling for the year. It is worth mentioning the cost thing because it just seems like an enormous sum of money. The total costs, including direct and indirect costs were estimated at $67,816 for the 06/07 academic year including $47,574 in direct costs (tuition and fees) and $20,242 in indirect costs. My EFC (the amount I should be able to pony up according to FAFSA) was $8,100. Living with Tia, I am estimating my costs to be somewhat less, but not significantly. I am thinking somewhere just north of $58,200. For those of you that are math impaired, that means I need to come up with about 50K. I will be starting a 503(c) charitable organization called 'Feed the murse' and link it through here in short order (Sally Struthers is already on board). So, if Yahweh, Buddha, God, Mephistopheles, the Flying Spaghetti Monster or anyone else you can pray to is listening, PLEASE MAKE SURE I GET THE FULD SCHOLARSHIP!

I am seeking out other means, but most scholarships remain extremely niche and it is a niche that I am sadly ill-equipped to fill since I am not native american, female, from West Virginia, a former Subway employee, an asbestos victim, color-blind, over 9' tall, ambidextrous, amphibious, illiterate, or in possession of some kind of gamma ray induced superpower. Whatever happened to scholarships for people who are A. in a particular major and B. need the money? (if they happen to also specify melanin-deficient, light-eyed, male, Florida born and seeking second degree following a failed attempt in elementary education who has also taught overseas.......well, all the better).

Time to get away from this screen.

Up & running.......until I get a stitch in my side and need to rest

Been trying to work up the motivation to put together a real blog for some time. Finally boredom overrode laziness and viola, here I am manning the keys. My goal is to try (operative word) to track my path through the nursing program from its inception through its eventual (hopeful?) culmination.

Thus far I have managed to go through little more than 4K collecting credits for prerequisites. All told, I think I will have 1,726 credit hours when I begin the program (it is a rough estimate and I am a terrible estimator, but it should be noted that I did attend school for a long time). I have shimmied and shook the rust off beginning last summer in a Nutrition course (A-), plowed and pushed my way through Anatomy 1 & 2 (A & A) and Health through the Lifespan course (A) and am bitching and moaning my way through Microbiology (might not buy a vowel here).

Currently I am embroiled in the sitting on my hands and waiting game for the Fuld Scholarship. Meaning up to 25% of my schooling could be paid for. The rest of the money will come from wise investments into pyramid schemes, plasma sales, and letting my paychecks ride on the number 24 on the Roulette Wheel. Some call this foolhardy, but those are the same naysayers that claim the lottery shouldn't be used for investment purposes (we cant all be mathematicians).

So, as updates warrant, I shall post. Even if they don't warrant, I will probably do so anyway (I have some time on my hands at the moment). In the meantime, try to find a comfortable chair, turn on the Manilow, and check back periodically. School starts in May.
